Following on from their first taster show, ‘The Eye’ – a volunteer organisation aiming to bring art to the people who work and shop in central Leicester – have launched their second exhibition at The Old Library.

The show, entitled Strong / Fragile, focuses on the work of 12 artists who each explore the theme in their own way. There are powerful works by Alan Willey referencing painful world turmoil, and delicate drawings by Deborah Ward made in a hospital heart ward. Kirsty MacMillan’s porcelain skills are an exquisite meditation on mortality and regeneration, and Moira Robinson’s glass sculpture is a homage of those who suffer abuse but manage to emerge stronger.

The show runs at The Old Library from Thursday 12th January until 8th February.

Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Great Central, John has been actively involved in Leicester's creative community for over a decade - promoting shows and releasing records under the name Robot Needs Home. He is a director of Handmade Festival, and ex member of the band Maybeshewill.
