Local film website Midlands Movies has announced their 2018 Awards Ceremony to honour and celebrate the best local filmmaking talent in the region.

To tie in with the Academy Awards on the same weekend this 2nd annual event is due to take place at the prestigious Hansom Hall venue in Leicester city on Saturday 3rd March 2018.

After a successful campaign using the crowd-funding website Kickstarter, the Midlands Movies Awards night is brought to you by a group of local film fans pooling their expertise to celebrate the creativity of artists and actors with a collective passion for the movie community in the region.

This year’s 2017 Midlands Movies awards were produced and streamed entirely online yet they are hoping to build upon that showcase with a glamourous evening for the follow-up. “As well as a great night out, a face-to-face event will also expand the scope of the Awards by allowing filmmakers an opportunity to celebrate their work whilst networking with their peers”, says Midlands Movies Editor Mike Sales.

Midlands Movies was set up 5 years ago and is an organization for regional filmmakers, fans, writers and more to discuss and promote their projects for the benefit of the area. The site has showcased and reviewed a wide variety of talent from the region’s film industry – ranging from first-time students and hobbyists to full feature productions involving stars of stage, TV and worldwide cinema.

Mike Sales adds, “Whether they are shorts, features, animation, documentaries and lots more as well, we’re looking to consider a whole range of Midlands-centric films for the awards. To submit costs filmmakers nothing so if your work was made around the region please let us know about them via the Film Freeway link on our website. The final nominations will be announced in the New Year and winners announced at the ceremony in March”.

The Midlands Movies Awards take place on the 3rd March 2018.
