His character may be searching for a lost city, but Charlie Hunnam finds his breakout movie performance in this tremendous and fascinating tale of determination.

The Lost City of Z follows the expeditions of British explorer Percy Fawcett during the dawn of the 20th century. Discovering evidence of an unknown civilization, Fawcett attempts to return to the deep jungles of the Amazon in an attempt to prove his case against his staunch critics.

Already a bona-fide TV star, Hunnam gives a breakout performance in his biggest film role to date. His performance is dazzling and gritty, brilliantly capturing the essence, will, and steel-heart determination of Fawcett.

Director James Gray directs with great style and scope, capturing the torturous conditions of the Amazon, the horrors of World War 1, and the unexplored nature of the tribes that reside deep in the jungle.

This is an early contender for the Best Picture Oscar but also an early contender for the Best Actor Oscar for Charlie Hunnam.
