This four track EP from duo Darren Jilks and Alex Goodwin is about the most understatedly beautiful release I’ve heard from the city for a good while. Opener Sweet, for example, almost sounds like My Bloody Valentine turned down to 1, rather than 11 – lush and swimming in reverb. It’s followed by Bell, which rains in the reverb slightly, but the resonance, harmony and space that is allowed to run throughout all the tracks on this EP are really what makes it what it is. Closer baby is the most lo-fi offering here and even it’s unusually clipped recording is somehow exactly the ending the EP needs. Sweetbellechobaby is delicate warmth as the winter closes in.
