Is this a rock concept album about a time travelling test pilot? Yes it bloody is. Skam have released what is arguably one of the city’s most ambitious guitar albums of recent years in the form of The Amazing Memoirs of Geoffrey Goddard. It ticks all the boxes you’d hope for – outrageous riffs, slick production and a strong set of songs performed exceptionally – but this genre has been well trodden for decades and even the records relatively ludicrous premise isn’t quite enough to move me to throw the horns quite enthusiastically enough. A solid effort in a tough genre.
