Riffy, psychedelic and unusual, HyperMegaSuperMassive from Leicester’s Restless is a record of it’s time, and that time is around 1992. While mostly instrumental, there are some nice touches in the form of occasional minimal vocals and vocal samples dotted throughout, but they often seem to be drawn from relatively obvious sources, breaking your suspension of disbelief somewhat in places. While the riffs are solid I feel that generally the record could do with some refinement, perhaps developing the songs to their natural conclusions, a bit more sonic variety and some self-editing of the output.

HyperMegaSuperMassive is available now.
