After watching a run of fair to awful movies, Pete’s Dragon is just what I needed.

Based on the 1977 musical live-action animation movie, Pete’s Dragon tells the story of 10-year-old orphan Pete who, after a tragic accident, befriends a mythical dragon named Elliot.

This re-make has to be one of the best, and is already one of my films of the year. It’s remarkable, powerful, and moving.

Pete’s Dragon has tremendous heart and will have you leaving in floods of tears. The story is warm, touching and has tonnes of charm. The cast share great chemistry and the performances are fantastic – notably Bryce Dallas Howard.

Its comedic moments are well timed and delivered and there’s so much to be enjoyed here for both adults and children. With a PG rating, this is the definition of a ‘family’ movie.
