Despite being ridiculously young, Skinny Girl Diet have already been around for a few years, though they’ve rarely ventured far from London. This rare Leicester show is an opportunity to catch a band at the top of their game.

DIY, political, protesting and fiercely feminist they fit the riot grrrl mould perfectly. Their Debut album Heavyflow came out last year with the bold cover showing the band in white dresses marked by period stains. Eyes That Paralyse would sit perfectly alongside the post punk of The Slits or the heavy, grunge snarl of L7 or Bikini Kill.

With great support from jesuscarfish, Jitterz and Meri Everitt, this is a must for the riot girls (and boys) of Leicester, especially as it’s part of Independent Venue Week, which showcases small independent venues – and it’s a celebration which Leicester’s venues throw themselves behind more than many other cities. Make the most of it!

Skinny Girl Diet play The Soundhouse as part of Independent Venue Week on the 25th January.
