Jamaican born sound system extraordinaire Lloyd Coxsone has been promoting reggae music to the max since the swinging sixties. Coxsone produced one of the first lover’s rock hits (Louisa Mark’s ‘Caught you in a Lie’), and assisted in the genre’s rise to prominence. He has almost mythical status on the international reggae scene and his work has influenced a generation of sound-systems.

Reggae Roast Sound System formed in 2007. They have since carved out a reputation as leaders within the UK reggae/ dancehall resurgence. With events, a label and sound system combined, they are one of the premier teams on the crest of the new wave of British reggae. Reggae Roast events are among the most popular on London’s reggae scene. They have hosted a variety of acclaimed artists including The Wailers, Lee Scratch Perry, Sly and Robbie, Mad Professor, David Rodigan, Suggs (Madness), Finley Quaye, Trojan Sound Aba Shanti I and many others.

Sir Coxsone Outernational & Reggae Roast Sound Systems are at 2Funky Music Cafe on the 24th February.
