He’s starred in TV sitcom Gavin and Stacey, acted in London’s West End, presented radio shows, appeared in comic mockumentary The Trip, hosted TV panel show Would I Lie To You? and lately he’s been seen touring exotic destinations in TV adverts for P&O Cruises, but this November, BAFTA-nominated comedian Rob Brydon is bringing his quick wit and Welsh charm to Leicester’s De Monfort Hall.
Self-depreciatingly titled I am Standing Up, this is Brydon’s first series of stand-up shows since his sell-out national tour in 2009. The show is set to offer a night of everything Brydon is renowned for – improvisation and fast-paced audience interaction, gags, amusing anecdotes, and first-class impersonations of celebrities like Sir Ronnie Corbett, Sir Paul McCartney, Elvis and Sean Connery. Rumour has it there will even be singing!
Despite the hint at Brydon’s diminutive physical stature in the show’s self-depreciating title, if I am Standing Up is anything like his previews stand-up shows, the audience can expect a night of hilarity that shows the UK’s favourite Welsh comedian is anything but diminutive in the comedy world.
Rob Brydon: I am Standing Up…is on at De Monfort Hall on 2 November 2017.
