For the first time ever, a Muslim Charity (New Horizons In British Islam) are hosting a comedy night at the Leicester Comedy Festival. The line up features award-winning stand up comedians Sajeela Kershi (Star Of Edinburgh Award 2007, Asian Women of Achievement Award 2015) and Bilal Zafar (Edinburgh Fringe Best Newcomer 2016, New Act Of The Year Award 2016) discussing “jihads, hijabs and kebabs”. A much-needed addition to Leicester’s already bustling multi-cultural comedy offering, this show should hopefully do a lot to dispel myths about the humourlessness of Islam.
