Normally I’m not one for big musical theatre shows but I saw this in London a few years ago and was truly blown away. It’s one hell of a spectacle, with hilarious original songs by Tim Minchin, comedic and heartfelt performances and a set the really does the fantastical nature of Dahl’s work justice. Desks that emerge from the floor, a chalkboard that writes on itself and a sequence involving the school’s front gates that left me phonetically and choreographically startled (that will make more sense when you see it).
