Why should you part with your money and go see Hands Off Gretel? It’s a Friday night, at one of Leicester’s great independent venues organised by one of Leicester’s many tireless DIY promoters, CASBAH, at a price that will barely cover the costs of the event. If this was a meal it would be a guilt free, organic, low cost, superfood that will leave you totally satisfied.

Hands Off Gretel are a South Yorkshire based four-piece who capture the raw sound of the ’90s grunge movement and blend it with the Riot Grrrl scene. With a handful of self-released CDs and a crowdfunded debut album, this unsigned act are garnering the attention of the music press. Relentlessly touring the UK playing pubs, clubs and festivals, they are a great example of a grassroots DIY band of the sort this country needs and thrives off.

Hands off Gretel play Firebug on Friday 23rd June. Support comes from Siobhan Mazzei and her band as well as James Byron.
