Fire In Your Heart Folk Club, a new monthly club showcasing all new talents across Leicester, is coming to Upstairs at The Western. Presented by Grace Petrie and the Robot Needs Home Collective, the event will be held every second Thursday of the month, beginning in September.

The night will celebrate “the understated beauty of the traditional folk club” – telling tales and ideas through song and coming together as a community, whilst keeping up with contemporary ideas. Leicester’s folk favourite Grace Petrie (BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show) will bring us headline slots by some of the folk world’s brightest stars, but will also feature open mic slots so that upcoming local artists have a chance to perform.

The nights will be recorded and then released as podcasts, available for free to those who cannot attend.

If you’d like to get involved there are open mic slots available, and interested parties should email Grace at for more information.

The first event, which is 14+, will be held on September 8th at 8pm and headlined by Grace with support from Sean McGowan.

Natasha is a 21 year old Journalism graduate from Birmingham. Interests include live music, food and drink, cats and The Simpsons.
