“It’s a love story. A dysfunctional, voyeuristic and darkly funny love story, but a love story all the same.”
A taste of London is coming to Leicester this May in the form of Blink by Phil Porter. A fresh and bizarre take on the usual love story, we follow Jonah and Sophie as they unnervingly talk directly to the audience. Jonah, a farm boy from up North, is thrilled to move to London, if not a little isolated. Sad and lonely Sophie is mourning the loss of her father when Jonah moves in downstairs, and anonymously sends him a monitor with which he can watch her through a camera. Jonah soon becomes infatuated with Sophie, but how will they fare when they finally meet face to face?
Blink is a remarkable and twisted play that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Performed at Upstairs At The Western, the intimate space brilliantly compliments the cleverly raw and brutally honest dialogue that makes the play so captivating.
Blink is at Upstairs At The Western on the 24th and 25th of May.
