Abstract Orchestra are a 16 strong “all star Hip Hop Big Band” from Leeds, and at this special event they’ll be playing a full interpretation of the debut cult classic Hip Hop Album Madvillainy from American heroes Rapper MF Doom and Producer Madlib aka working together as Madvillain. The album Madvillainy received critical and commercial acclaim on its release in 2004 and featured on the NME 500 Greatest Albums Of All time.

Abstract Orchestra is made up of some of the finest, most accomplished musicians in the business. The list of stars they play with include John Legend & the Roots, Adele, Roots Manuva, Mark Ronson, Estelle and Corinne Bailey Rae. Their own debut Album, Dilla, is gaining them real momentum and lots of acclaim.

Big bands are more popular now than ever at festivals and venues – a trail blazed by Jazz Jamaica Band, Matthew Herbert Band  and several others. Abstract Orchestra are unique in their chosen genre of Hip Hop, reversing the trend, whereby Hip Hop samples music taken from records, Abstract Orchestra are sampling and reprising a whole Hip Hop classic album live, thereby re-invigorating said Album using a line up top musicians playing live horns, rhythm section, keyboards, singers and rappers. All this creates a dynamic and powerful stage show.

Abstract Orchestra come to 2Funky Music Cafe on Friday 10th November.
