Leicester’s independent cinema Phoenix is bringing not one, but two top film directors to the city this week to talk about their latest films.
On Saturday 4th March Gurinder Chadha, director of groundbreaking British film Bend It Like Beckham will talk before a showing of her latest film, Viceroy’s House, which stars The Fall’s Gillian Anderson and Downton Abbey favourite Hugh Bonneville.
On Monday 6th March Ben Wheatley, director of Tom Hiddleston feature High Rise, will be answering questions after a screening of his latest offering Free Fire, starring Brie Larson and Cillian Murphy.
Phoenix Marketing Manager Patrick Welsh says, “It’s great for us and for our customers that we‘ve got such talented directors to talk about their films. It gives customers a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes in filmmaking .”

Gurinder Chadha’s Q&A on 4th March will be before the 7pm screening of Viceroy’s House. The screening will begin at just after 7.30pm with no ads or trailers.
Ben Wheatley’s Q&A on 6th March will be after the 7.30pm preview screening of Free Fire.
