It’s with some sadness that we have decided that November’s issue of Great Central will be its last, with the website closing shortly after.

While we’re proud to have created something which quickly became beloved by it’s readers and the city’s creative community we failed to create something that could secure the financial support it needed to continue. Having begged and borrowed to make it through our first three years, we’ve made the decision to cease publication from this point forwards.

We need to extend an enormous thank you to everyone who believed in what we were doing – from the writers, photographers, editors and designers who put everything together, to the advertisers who invested in it and our Patreon and GoFundMe backers who personally contributed to it’s continuation.

Leicester is a brilliant city that deserves to have more people shout about the great things that happen here. We hope someone takes up the gauntlet and can find a sustainable model to do that in print.

Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Great Central, John has been actively involved in Leicester's creative community for over a decade - promoting shows and releasing records under the name Robot Needs Home. He is a director of Handmade Festival, and ex member of the band Maybeshewill.
