Independent burger chain Meatcure have announced that their Leicester restaurant has closed in a statement on social media.
“So the second phase of the Meatcure restructure has taken place. With a heavy heart we’ve had to let Leicester go. Therefore as from today Meatcure Leicester is closed. This was by no means an easy decision. Some of our loyalist and greatest fans were in Leicester to which we are very grateful. However Leicester was always a punt, a maybe we could pull something off in the way of a thriving independent scene!
Along with the likes of Crafty, St Martins, Gelato Village and Maiyango we thought we could offer a cool independent alternative to the’ big dogs’ round the corner in Highcross. Where some have stayed small, diversified or re-invested in something new we expanded too quickly and with a inconsistent student trade and being just a few steps of so many big chain restaurants, we’ve decided it’s time to close our doors.
Our space on Highcross street has had viewings of artisan cocktail bars, high end coffee shops and a varied of alternative offerings. We’re excited that out transformed space will be re-utilised in such a cool way and wish all the afore mentioned independents and new ones every success.
So what’s next for the Meatcure bus??? With Market Harborough and Hinckley remaining we aim to continue with these refocusing on the great service and exceptional food quality that made Meatcure famous. Rob and Yaga will soon be back at the helms of each with a list of fantastic improvements, alterations and additions to be made, The journey is on!
We want to thank every one of you for your support of the Leicester restaurant and don’t worry, we’re still here in the county and you can get your Meatcure fix in Market Harborough and Hinckley.”
