Leicester’s only speakeasy themed cocktail bar, Manhattan34 on Rutland Street are pleased to welcome the arrival of the Leicester Comedy Festival with a bespoke cocktail menu.
Running throughout the festival period, revellers can enjoy a unique selection of seven cocktails which have been specially created by their crack team of elite bartenders. The menu contains alcoholic and non-alcoholic delights, so there is something to please everyone attending the free and Pay What You Want comedy shows held in the Cellar Bar from now until Sunday 25th February.
“The Comedy Festival is something we always look forward to here at Manhattan34,” said bar owner, Marc van Rooyen. “This year we believe we will be hosting more comedians than anyone else – over 75 at the last count! It made sense for us to mark this with a special menu, so that our audiences can enjoy something a little bit special during the interval.”
The bespoke menu includes groanworth names, like the ‘Punstar Martini’ mocktail, made with passionfruit, vanilla, citrus and pineapple, and the ‘Honeydew You Think I’m Funny’ made with the melon liquour Midori. “We’re bartenders at the end of the day,” smiles Marc, “We’ve given the puns our best shot, but we’ll leave the jokes to the experts and stick to mixing excellent drinks.”
Manhattan34 will also be releasing a second menu of specials on Monday 12th February to mark Valentine’s Day. Available throughout the week until Sunday 18th February, guests can enjoy a range of cocktails developed with Eden Mill ‘Love’ pink gin, distilled in St Andrews, which incorporates delicate hints of rose petal, raspberry leaf and goji berry amongst a more familiar profile of botanicals. Those who want to keep a clear head can enjoy the Amor, a light, fruity cocktail with just a hint of white chocolate cheesecake in its complex flavours.
