Leicester Comedy Festival, which runs from the 8th to the 26th February right across the city has launched it’s 2017 brochure which features over 770 events. They’ve reinvented the festival as ‘The Official Comedy Party of the UK’, with a mission to get the UK laughing again.

Founder and festival Director Geoff Rowe said: “Following a truly depressing 2016 across the UK, we have made it our mission to lift spirits by launching the Official Comedy Party. Join our celebrations throughout February 2017 in Leicester, as we present another festival bursting with laughs; a comedy show for every taste, the return of #UKPunday and the UK Pun Championships, exclusive interviews with top comedians and a host of unique events to put a smile back on the face of all who join us.”

The line-up features some huge names including Jimmy Carr, Johnny Vegas, Ken Dodd, Richard Herring, Stewart Lee, Sue Perkins, James Acaster, Adam Buxton and Sarah Millican – and you’ll be able to read interviews with many of them in the forthcoming issue of Great Central.

There’s a thread of political comedy running through the 19 days with Andy Zaltzman, Andrew Lawrence, Josie Long, Matt Forde and many more bringing shows with a message, or that make you think, to the festival.

The festivals enormous brochure will be available across the city from this week, but we’ll also be including all the event listings for the city in Issue 2 of the magazine, and online from today.

Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Great Central, John has been actively involved in Leicester's creative community for over a decade - promoting shows and releasing records under the name Robot Needs Home. He is a director of Handmade Festival, and ex member of the band Maybeshewill.
