CAMEo Research institute are hosting a ‘Salon’ for aspiring writers and creatives to learn the basics of grassroots writing and publishing. The event will bring together writers, authors, academics, independent publishers, zine-makers and other creatives to look at what it takes to make this ‘DIY’ literary activity work. It will explore the opportunities and challenges for independent publishers and self-published authors, sharing experiences and practices in the grassroots literary scene in Leicester and beyond.

Speakers will include Farhana Shaikh (Dahlia Publishing, Leicester Writes, The Asian Writer), Miriam Johnson (University of Derby, on writing with social media) and Heiba Lamara (Assistant Editor, OOMK zine).
