Leicester’s own Gelato Village in St Martin’s Square was named ‘Best Gelateria in the Country’ at the UK’s Italian Awards last night.

Having been nominated by the public in the first round, they beat of stiff competition to claim the award. The Judges were swung by their commitment to fresh, natural ingredients, seasonal produce and devotion to traditional techniques.

Co-Founder Antonio De Vecchi said “It has been a great year for us in terms of awards and international recognition. We take immense pride in the artisan quality of our gelato, but none of this would have been possible without the loyal support of our amazing customers.”

Gelato Village opened in St Martin’s Square in 2014.
