The Festival Of Vibe curation team led by singer songwriter James Burkmar and Jazz FM’s Tony Minvielle embark on the first in a series of specially crafted live sessions designed to bring together a selection of their favourite up and coming musicians and dj’s of the moment from across the UK to venues outside of London.

Tony explains “this is all about giving this part of the UK a chance to sample some the amazing music that is coming from our larger conurbations such as London, Birmingham and Manchester and mixing it with some of our talent from closer to home. Being a broadcaster on the world’s largest commercial jazz station has given me a chance to tap into some of the most talented musicians, bands and sounds to emerge from the UK in a very long time. The great thing is that, primarily from an urban background and some classically trained, they have mastered the language of jazz and soul and are bandleaders in their own right but they can also be found as members of bands for the likes of Kano, Stormzy, Jorja Smith and Little Simz in equal measure.” James adds “The festival is all about the celebration of quality irrespective of the genre of music on offer hence the title Festival Of Vibe as this is about a general feeling you get when you hear something amazing – plus we are really excited to have the involvement of nationally networked Jazz FM and musical hook ups with Notts based Acoustickle.”

The line up will include Project Karnak led by the gifted Dominic Canning (also a member of TriForce and a founder member of the STEAM DOWN collective) who bring with them their special brand of soulful fusion. Also appearing will be Birmingham based musician, arranger and composer Xhosa Cole who like Nubyia Garcia, Cassie Kinoshi, Moses Boyd, Joe Armon-Jones and Yussef Dayes is one of the most exciting UK prospects of the moment. Under the careful eye of David Austin Grey and Soweto Kinch his star is definitely on the rise. Also expect soulful business from local heroes Son Of plus more surprise guests.

Deck duties will be provided by talented broadcaster Tim S-Garcia presenter of Música Macondo on Jazz FM and Blaby based Tony Minvielle presenter of Foldedspace on Jazz FM and curator of two top 10 compilation albums.

Festival of Vibe comes to their home town of Leicester on Saturday 15thSept at The Shed.

Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Great Central, John has been actively involved in Leicester's creative community for over a decade - promoting shows and releasing records under the name Robot Needs Home. He is a director of Handmade Festival, and ex member of the band Maybeshewill.
