Another month, another Canteen, except this month it takes place on Thursday 29 March to account for Good Friday the next day.

Heading up this month’s traders are some of the customer favourites from the past year with a few new ones added to the mix for a fresh taste.

Flying Cows
British Street Food Award Winners 2017 (Best Burger)
Well what can we say about the wonderful Flying Cows? They do burgers… really amazing burgers! Winners of Best Burger in the UK, no less! Head man Dan Batchelor is a professional chef by trade and has worked in some of the best restaurants in Birmingham & London. All their burgers are made using dry aged beef from his family’s own farm of pedigree grass-fed Dexter Cattle.

Low N Slow
Andy and Donna knock out some the best BBQ food you’ll taste. They have been going for 4 years in which time they have been finalists in the YBF awards two years in a row and have recently been flexing their grill skills at Meatopia. They pride themselves on sourcing the best British meat they can find and only using rare breeds. Customers rave about their Ribs, their 18hr Smoked Pulled Pork and their famous Tacos.

Pork Belly Rib
Wild cherry smoked bone in pork belly rib, pickled apple slaw, sweet heat BBQ sauce.

Smoked Pulled Pork Bun
20 Hour oak smoked pork shoulder, toasted buttermilk bun, lemon herb slaw, pickled cucumber.

Smoked Brisket Bun
Beef Brisket chilli, toasted buttermilk bun, Red Leicester, charcoal mayo, lemon herb slaw, pickled cucumber.

Pig Cheek Tostada
Wild cherry smoked pig cheek tostada, crema, chilli morita and heritage tomato salsa, coriander.

Mac Daddies
Mac Daddies started life in late 2014 and serve up awesome varieties of Mac and Cheese.

All of their dishes are made fresh to order for the best possible quality, they source all of their ingredients from businesses local to them, all in a bid to create the creamiest, tastiest, most indulgent Mac and Cheese you’ve ever had the joy of eating!

Our signature 4 cheese macaroni, breadcrumb.

July 14th

4 cheese macaroni, sSmoked streaky bacon, hot jalapenos, crispy bacon bits.

Oh My Gourd (V & VG)

4 cheese macaroni, roasted butternut squash, fresh thyme, creme fraiche.

The ’77

Chipotle infused 4 cheese macaroni, chorizo, cayenne spiced onions, rocket, fresh red chilli.

Deep Fried Mac Balls (V)

Gooey, cheesy macaroni balls, panko crumb, spicy sweet pepper and sage dip.

Get Wurst
Making their Canteen debut, Get Wurst is a husband and wife team that started out so they could serve up some serious German sausage! They have their own supplier over in Germany, who only uses the best quality organic meat and they serve their sausages in brioche buns from their local bakers. All this is served with beer fried onions, sauerkraut, pickles and their homemade currywurst sauce. They also do a tasty vegan wurst, which is fast becoming one of their most popular menu choices and was recently featured in the Metro.

The Smokey One

Like the original bratwurst with an intense smokey flavour, served in a brioche bun with sauerkraut IPA fried onions and pickles.

The Cheesey One (Canteen Special)

Our smoked pork bratwurst filled with emmental cheese, served in a brioche bun with IPA fried onions, sauerkraut and pickles. 

Vegan Currywurst & Fries

Sliced seitan Bratwurst served on skin on rosemary salted fries with our homemade warm curry tomato sauce served with sweet pickles. (VG)

Street Chef
Street chef is about creating unique & innovative tasty street food dishes prepared from scratch and cooked with passion. They have appeared on BBC Great British Food Trip and have been nominated 2 years running for West Midlands most popular street food. Peter and the team are renowned for their take on Halloumi Fries which they will serving along with other dishes such as Sea Bass Pambazo and Chilli Chicken Beavertails. Watch out for some great specials!

Halloumi Fries

The best you will find in the UK! Served with homemade Mushroom Cajun ketchup & chia seed salad. (V)

Chilli Chicken Quesadillas (Canteen Exclusive)

Street Chef Chilli Chicken tortillas Served with Black Pepper Nachos and Halloumi Fries

Lemon Chilli Sea Bass
Lemon chilli sea bass veggie chorizo spicy cous cous finished with an injection of lime mint yogurt served with Halloumi Fries and mushroom cajun ketchup.

Barebones Churros
Another month and another fantastic dessert trader for you to tuck into! Churros have been a must have item on the Canteen trader board for a few months and so it’s great to welcome Barebones Churros this month with their great range of chocolate dipped delights!

Authentic freshly made Churros dusted with cinnamon & sugar. Served with a chocolate dip (VG)

The Drinks

Sailor Jerry Bar
The bar is situated just inside LCB near the Rutland Street entrance providing happy hour Sailor Jerry cocktails all night and soft drinks. The bar returns with a brand new menu and Easter treats!

Tailgate Bar (Boutique Bar)
Located in the glass building at the top right corner of the courtyard…. Expect some classic and disco style cocktail specials including non-alcoholic versions. More information will be released closer to the event but you can expect for chocolatey Easter specials.

Canteen After Party
Canteens sister brand “Tailgate” hosts the official after party at The Shed on Yeoman Street. Its free entry and DJs will be playing a mix of Funk, Disco, Old School Hip-Hop and Party vibes. There will be Cocktail and Craft Beer offers all night.

Canteen runs on Thursday 29 March from 3pm to 10pm at LCB Depot in the Cultural Quarter.
