14/48 The World’s Quickest Theatre Festival returns to Leicester for it’s seventh festival this November. Originally conceived in Seattle, the festival first came to Leicester in 2013 and now appears twice a year at the city’s historic Y theatre.

The festival challenges around 65 professional ‘theatre makers’ to produce 14 brand new short plays in under 48 hours.

Seven writers are tasked with writing a ten minute play overnight, then at 9am the directors pick their scripts at random, followed by their cast at 10am. Ten hours later they have their opening night complete with set, costumes and music from the house band. The whole process then repeats itself over the following 24 hours, resulting in 14 plays in 48 hours.

14/48 comes to Leicester’s Y Theatre on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th November.

Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Great Central, John has been actively involved in Leicester's creative community for over a decade - promoting shows and releasing records under the name Robot Needs Home. He is a director of Handmade Festival, and ex member of the band Maybeshewill.
